Brucie D Looysen
Brucie D lives in Calgary, Alberta and loves the mountains and the outdoors.
She is a mother and a grandmother, which brings her great joy.
She has lived in many places, and is a citizen of the beautiful and amazing countries, Canada and Australia.
Her love for the ocean comes from her time living in Australia, which she frequently still visits. Her mother, siblings and numerous nieces and nephews reside in Australia.
Her love of water, oceans and beaches influenced her to write books that take place in the bottom of the ocean, where a mysterious, enchanting part of this world exists that we seldom get to experience.
The Heart of Aqua's Ocean Tales
"I believe we protect what we love."
That simple belief is the heart of the Aqua's Ocean Tales series. Children grow quickly, and before long they will become the decision-makers, leaders, teachers, parents, and advocates who shape the future of our planet. By helping children discover the wonder, beauty, and importance of the natural world, I hope to inspire a lifelong appreciation for nature and a desire to protect it.
Although my children’s books are fictitious stories, the marine animals featured in them are very real. Fact is not only stranger than fiction, it is funnier, more mysterious and remarkable. I believes that we take care of what we love, and I hope my books inspires children by not only the morals of the story, but by igniting their interest in nature and our oceans. This beautiful blue planet and it’s ocean are teaming with life. 50% to 80% of our oxygen comes from the ocean. Our seagrass meadows, coral reefs, mangrove and kelp forest are where ocean life thrives, and coastlines are protected. Their protection is vital to our planet. Nature weaves seamlessly between oceans, mountains and prairies. Boarders are imaginary lines, that nature is totally unaware of, with life flowing from sea to sea seamlessly intertwined.
