The Heart of Aqua's Ocean Tales
"I believe we protect what we love."
That simple belief is the heart of the Aqua's Ocean Tales series. Children grow quickly, and before long they will become the decision-makers, leaders, teachers, parents, and advocates who shape the future of our planet. By helping children discover the wonder, beauty, and importance of the natural world, I hope to inspire a lifelong appreciation for nature and a desire to protect it.
Although my children’s books are fictitious stories, the marine animals featured in them are very real. Fact is not only stranger than fiction; it can be funnier, more mysterious and even more remarkable.
I believe we take care of what we love. I hope my books inspire children not only through the morals of the stories, but by igniting their curiosity and interest in nature and our oceans.
This beautiful blue planet is teeming with life, and the health of our oceans is an essential part of it. An estimated 50% to 80% of the oxygen we breathe comes from the ocean. Our seagrass meadows, coral reefs, mangroves and kelp forests are places where ocean life thrives, while also helping to protect our coastlines. Protecting these precious ecosystems is important not only for the ocean, but for the health of our entire planet.
Nature knows no borders. It weaves seamlessly between oceans, mountains and prairies. Borders are imaginary lines that nature is completely unaware of, with life flowing from sea to land and back again, all connected and beautifully intertwined.
